The Wandering Planet

Hand tufted wool, stainless steel sphere

The Wandering Planet explores ideas of movement, place and environmental connection through the combination of soft textile materials and industrial form. A stainless steel sphere is wrapped in a hand-tufted wool surface, creating a visual tension between hard and soft, manufactured and organic. The work reflects on how humans navigate and shape the landscapes around them while remaining deeply connected to the natural world. Through the use of tactile materials, the sculpture invites audiences to consider touch, texture and embodied experience as valid ways of engaging with contemporary art. The project continues my exploration of textiles as sculptural forms and demonstrates how traditional fibre techniques can be expanded into immersive three-dimensional works.
