Dream Escape
Hand tufted wool rug and fibre optic lighting
Dream Escape is a large-scale circular textile installation exploring imagination, sensory experience and the space between reality and dreaming. Measuring two metres in diameter, the hand-tufted work incorporates fibre optic lighting that transforms the rug into a glowing environment. The combination of soft tactile surfaces and shifting points of light creates an immersive experience that encourages audiences to slow down and engage with the work through both visual and sensory perception. Inspired by the feeling of drifting into a dream state, the project investigates how textiles can move beyond functional objects to become sculptural and experiential artworks. Dream Escape marked an important development in my practice by introducing light as an active element within my textile work.
